Yes, electric scooters are legal in Sweden, but are subject to specific regulations from the Swedish Transport Agency. For legal use on public roads, cycle paths, and pavements, the following applies:

  • Maximum speed: 20 km/h (since September 2022)
  • Motor power: Maximum 250W continuous power
  • Equipment: Bell, brake, reflectors, and lights in the dark
  • Age limit: Recommended from 15 years
  • Helmet: Mandatory for children under 15, strongly recommended for adults

Our electric scooters can be ridden legally on Swedish roads when the speed is limited to 20 km/h. For higher speeds (up to 45 km/h), they may only be used on private land or closed tracks. Always read the latest information on transportstyrelsen.se.

No, you do not need a driver's license to ride an e-scooter in Sweden – as long as the vehicle complies with the regulations (max 250W and 20 km/h). Traffic insurance is not a legal requirement either, but is strongly recommended as you are responsible for any damage you cause.

Remember:

  • The alcohol limit of 0.2 per mille also applies to e-scooters
  • You must follow traffic rules like cyclists
  • Use cycle paths where available

Range varies depending on model, battery, and conditions. Our electric scooters have a range from 25 km up to 80 km per charge.

Important to know about Swedish winters:

  • Lithium batteries lose 20–40% capacity in sub-zero temperatures
  • Store the battery indoors when not in use
  • Charge the battery at room temperature, not out in the cold
  • An electric scooter with a 55 km summer range will provide approx. 35–40 km in January

For daily commuting of 5–10 km one way, all our models can handle this year-round, even in winter.

Charging time depends on battery size and charger:

  • Small batteries (7.5–10 Ah): 3–5 hours
  • Medium batteries (10–15 Ah): 5–8 hours
  • Large batteries (15–20 Ah): 8–10 hours
  • Fast charger (optional): halves the charging time

Tips for longer battery life:

  • Charge from 20% to 80% for daily use
  • Full charge (100%) only when you need full range
  • Do not leave the battery empty for extended periods

Avoid charging in temperatures below 5°C

Our e-scooters are IP54-rated or higher, which means they can withstand light rain and moisture. This is sufficient for normal Swedish weather conditions:

✅ Can handle without problems:

  • Light rain and drizzle
  • Wet asphalt and puddles (shallow)
  • High humidity
  • Splashes from water spray

❌ Avoid:

  • Heavy downpours and thunderstorms
  • Deep puddles over 5 cm
  • Submerging in water
  • Washing with a high-pressure washer

After riding in the rain – wipe the e-scooter dry and store indoors.

SJ (trains): Electric scooters are permitted as hand luggage on most SJ trains if they are folded and the battery is under 160 Wh (applies to most of our models). On certain routes, you may need to book a space for bulky luggage.

SL (Stockholm public transport): Permitted on buses and the subway during certain hours – usually not during peak hours (7-9 AM & 3-6 PM on weekdays).

Västtrafik (Gothenburg), Skånetrafiken: Similar rules – check local guidelines.

Flights: Generally not permitted on commercial aircraft as the battery exceeds 160 Wh.

Always check the operator's current rules before traveling.
