Which electric scooter suits your needs?
Start with where you may legally ride, the distance you want to cover and whether you need to carry the scooter. More power or a larger battery often means more weight.
Short everyday journeys
Prioritise manageable weight, simple folding and good lights. For commuting, the exact model must meet the rules where you live.
Longer rides
Compare battery energy, stated range and charging time. Allow a margin for your weight, hills, wind and temperature.
Uneven surfaces
Look at wheel size, tyres and suspension. Off-road capability does not mean riding in the countryside or on public roads is permitted.
Long-range electric scooters: compare the right figures
Manufacturer range figures come from tests. Speed, rider weight, tyre pressure and hills affect your actual distance. Include the return journey and avoid planning a trip that needs every last bit of battery charge.
Compare watt-hours where possible: volts × amp-hours = Wh. A 48 V, 15 Ah battery provides 720 Wh. This is a calculation example, not a promised riding distance.
For Swedish conditions, consider visibility during darker months and allow extra range when temperatures fall.
Weight, tyres and brakes for everyday use

In Sweden, bicycle classification requires no more than 20 km/h and 250 W continuous rated power. Faster or more powerful scooters cannot be used in public traffic. Also check equipment and insurance requirements.

A good purchase works beyond the first ride
Consider the whole purchase: correct fit, protective equipment, a lock and ongoing maintenance. Check the availability of compatible tyres, brake parts and chargers for the exact model and model year.

- Review the return policy and the model’s warranty terms. Keep your order confirmation and serial number.
- Use a manufacturer-approved charger and follow the temperature limits in the manual. Do not charge a damaged or wet battery.

How much range do I need?
Start with the full distance between charges. Leave a margin for hills, cold weather and loads. Stated range is not a guarantee for your particular journey.
Can I ride in the rain?
Check the manual and model’s IP rating. An IP rating does not make a vehicle waterproof in every condition. Avoid floodwater and only charge when the vehicle and connections are dry.
Does a low-speed riding mode make a scooter road legal?
Not automatically. Design, power, approval and how a limiter operates can determine its classification. Read the country guidance and check the exact version before buying.
